Popping Pinboard
New pin board adds a pop of colour to classrooms! Last week was a busy week around Lake Heights with new pinboard installed in all classrooms. The floor to ceiling pinboard is a bright new addition to classrooms and will make displaying student work even easier. All classrooms received one wall of yellow pinboard, except for Kindergarten who have a lovely new orange wall. Pop in and have a look!

Cross Country

Congratulations to Wollamai who took out 1st place in the Cross Country carnival

A little drizzle didn't stop Lake Heights students from lacing up their joggers and donning their house colours for our annual school Cross Country Carnival last Thursday. The event kicked off just after 9am, with our primary students the first to hit the course. It was fantastic to see so many students giving it their all and achieving some results. Our infants students had their turn on the course just after 10am and were supported by some of our older runners and plenty of family and friends who turned out to cheer them on. The results for the day are as follows:
Students who placed in the top 5 positions in each category will progress to the District Cross Country Carnival, held on the 5 May 2016 at Kembla Grange Joggers Club. Permission slips and further information will be provided in the coming weeks.
Taking Five in Reading Recovery
Each year, four Year 1 students receive additional reading support from a specialist, reading recovery trained teacher. This year, Mrs Nicastri has taken on the role of Reading Recovery teacher and has been doing a fantastic job working with her four students -  Boyd, Hayden, Armani and Logan. Students attend reading recovery each day, for 30 minutes of one-on-one support. They work on a range of activities to develop their reading and writing abilities. Check out Hayden cutting and reconstructing his sentence during the writing component of his lesson on Friday.
