Mother's Day Stall
We hope all of the mums in our Lake Heights community had a special Mother's Day on Sunday. It is always a special time preparing gifts and cards for Mother's Day in the classroom and hearing students talk about what makes their mum so special. We'd like to extend a big thank you to all those who supported our Mother's Day Stall last Friday. Our P&C, once again, did an excellent job and managed to raise $217.05. Thank you so much to the incredibly generous mums, Belinda Chase, Julie Churcher, Lisa Ramsay, who gave up much of their precious time to organise and run the stall.
Our Year 2 shoppers, loved finding the perfect gift for their mums.
Chromebooks in the Classroom

A one-to-one laptop program

The Chromebook is a new, faster computer. It starts in seconds, is easy to use and keeps going with a long battery life. Chromebooks are automatically kept up to date and there is no set up needed. Students just log in with their school account and password.

Senior classes have been using Chromebooks on a one to one basis since part way into last term. The school has plans to extend its one-to-one Chromebook / laptop program to younger grade levels. There is also consideration being given to making Chromebooks available for purchase so that students can use them at home as well as school. They retail for under $300.

Tonight at 7.30PM, Mr Finkernagel will be leading an information session for parents in the 5/6 classroom. Chromebooks will be the main topic for discussion at what will also be our first night time P&C meeting  The meeting will go for one hour and include brief reports from the President, Treasurer and Principal.  A light supper will be provided as well as hands-on experience with Chromebooks. The meeting will be of interest to parents of children in all classes. Hope you can come along!

Over the next three days, students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9, from all across the country will participate in NAPLAN tests. Whilst we endeavour to prepare students for the test without worrying them, this is a time that some students find stressful. Warrawong High School Gala Day
Last Tuesday, Year 4 students were lucky enough to be invited to Warrawong High School for a sports gala day. Year 4s from all around our community were also invited, and there was over a hundred students there. The day was spent playing range of sports that were led by Warrawong High School students. Our Year 4s were split into different groups and got to make new friends from outside of our school. Two of our students received an award for 'Best and Fairest' for the sportsmanship during the day. The aim of the gala day was to make high school a little less scary for students when the time comes for them to move on from Lake Heights. We had a great day and were so proud of the way our students conducted themselves throughout the event. Click here to see more photos from the day.
Phoenix and Jaykob were named 'Best and Fairest' on the day. Congratulations, boys!
