Kindergarten- Week 1
Kindergarten have come back to school full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to do lots more wonderful learning.
K/1- Week 1
K/1 have had a wonderful start back to school. They particularly enjoyed reading a new book and using their imaginations to change the ending.
1/2- Week 1
Students in 1/2 were straight back into learning last week as they had to make the tallest tower using straws and sticky tape. They had to design their tower first and then build it.
2/3- Week 1:
2/3 are back and straight into their science unit studying forces and gravity.
4/5 was excited to come back from holidays and see the new renovations to the room. The wall at the back of the room has been opened up to extend the class space. A new glass wall was installed along the corridor today, allowing plenty of light in whilst containing the sound and air cooling.
5/6- Week 1:
5/6 have been finishing off their Electricity Unit. Batteries were a focus. The whole class also did a word loop activity to combine all the vocabulary they used throughout their unit.
They say that grandparents are the best kind of grown ups and at Lake Heights, we know what an important role grandparents play in the lives of our students.
Whether it be helping before and after school, cheering on a sporting team or simply being a smiling face and a shoulder to lean on, grandparents have a special part to play. This year, Lake Heights Public School will be joining with many others around the country, to celebrate the vital role grandparents play in our day-to-day lives.
Grandparents are invited to join us Friday 27 October at 9:30am for class time together then morning tea. Visit your grandchildren's classes and join in some fun learning and sharing.
Class time starts at 9:30.
Morning tea will be served in the Learning Hub from 10:30am.
To assist with catering, please let us know if you're able to attend by completing the RSVP that children will bring home today.
Spare slips are available at The Hub.
We hope you can join us!

We will begin welcoming our new 2018 Kindergarten students this week with our first playgroup session.
Any children that are enrolled to begin Kindergarten next year are invited to come along and meet other children and families. The initial playgroup session will take place in the Learning Hub at 9am. Parents/carers are invited to attend these playgroups with their children.
While the playgroups are an optional activity for future Kindergarten students, it would be great to see them at one or more of the playgroups if they are able to attend.
Our official orientation sessions will take place on Wednesday 15 November (9-10:45) and Wednesday 22 November (9-11:45). It is expected that all new Kindergarten students attend these. During the first session, the students will spend the morning in a Kindergarten classroom, while their parents attend the Parent Information Session in the Learning Hub. The final orientation session will be particularly exciting as the new Kindergartens will get to spend time with their future Year 6 buddies.
If you have any questions regarding the Transition to School program, feel free to call the school or speak to Mrs Ellsmore or Mrs Sernig.
Our current students are so excited to meet the new Kindergarten children that they made this short video to welcome them. Click on the link below to watch:

Stewart House Bags
Each year 1,800 public school children visit Stewart House from many parts of NSW and the ACT. During their stay, children participate in educational programs as well as being provided with optometric, dental and medical treatment.
Stewart House needs your support to ensure they can continue to provide these important services to children. You can help by filling up the Stewart House bags with clothing and returning them to school by Tuesday 17 October.
