Grandparents visit, Thank you Bunnings, More playgroup fun: Term 4 | Week 4

Weekly News

Grandparents Day Fun!

They say that a grandparent is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher and a little bit best friend.

On Friday, Lake Heights Public School was filled with a little extra fun, knowledge and love as we invited our grandparents in to enjoy our school. It was wonderful to see the children sharing their learning with their grandparents in the classroom as they read, coded on iPads, worked on laptops, wrote and crafted. I'm sure the classroom would have been a very different place to what their grandparents remembered. We were then lucky enough to have the P & C serve morning tea while Miss Hunter and the choir performed for our visitors. Congratulations to both Miss Hunter and the choir, it sounded lovely. Thank you so much to everyone that helped make it such a wonderful day and thanks to all of the wonderful grandparents for visiting.
Bunnings Gardening Fun!

New tools, new gloves and new plants for our garden, all courtesy of Bunnings Warrawong. Thank you Bunnings!!

As you can see our children loved the donation from Bunnings and couldn't wait to get in the garden to plant, dig and explore.
Applications open- Only 1 place left!

Applications opened last Monday for the Department of Education 2-week swim school program that runs towards the end of this term for two weeks. Schools are limited to 50 places and these have been snapped up very quickly. Just 1 place remains!

The program is for beginning or non-swimmers. It develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety and survival. The program is conducted over ten days. Each daily lesson is 45 minutes.

Students in Years 1 to 6 who have not reached a satisfactory standard of water safety and survival skills, and are unable to swim 25m confidently unaided in deep water, are eligible to participate in the School Swimming Program.

Instruction will take place at Berkeley Swimming Pool.

The Scheme will continue daily for two weeks from Monday 27 November to Friday 8 December, departing school at 1.30 and returning a little after school by approximately 2.45pm.

Permission notes were given out to students last week and they are also available to download here.
