Holiday learning ideas!
The holidays are a fantastic time to relax and unwind. They are also a great opportunity for parents and children to take part in learning skills together in preparation for the 2018 year school.
Below are a few ideas of how you can engage your child in learning over the holidays.
Children love iPads and there are some great apps designed to promote reading. Reading eggs is a fantastic app to encourage reading in grades K-2 and the older version, Reading Express, is also fantastic.
Local libraries are a fantastic place to visit during the holidays. With access to books, magazines and games, they are an exciting place to explore together.
The Wollongong Art Gallery has some fantastic holiday programs designed to engage school aged children.
Holiday journals are a fantastic way to encourage your child to write during the break. Writing a couple of sentences about their day can be a simple way of encouraging your child to maintain the writing skills they have developed during the school year.
Board games are a great way to interact with your child and promote critical thinking skills in a fun way.

Over the past year, 1/2 and Mrs Upeski have shared many joyous memories together. Mrs Upeski has thoroughly enjoyed teaching 1/2 and wishes all the students the best of luck for the new year.
2/3 loved their excursion to the Science Centre and Planetarium.
4/5 have been having a hoot of a time learning about the importance of a sense of humour and trying to make each other laugh at their jokes.
4/5 and 5/6 have been getting into the Christmas spirit. Some students went down to Warrawong Plaza to decorate a real Christmas tree and also create a display featuring Christmas art from each class. We also loved having fun in the snow.
