School photos will be taken on 4 April this year, but orders need to be in by this Thursday. If you have more than one child at the school and would like them to have a family photo, order forms are available from the office.
A penny for your thoughts
Lake Heights Public School is partnering with the Department of Education to conduct research with parents about how the Department can use social and digital media to better communicate with parents. This research will directly influence the decisions made at very senior levels with the Education Department, and this is an opportunity for your voice to be heard.
An independent research agency has been appointed to conduct this work, and will be coming to the school on Monday 9 April to talk to parents. Those parents who choose to participate will be paid for their time (approximately 2 hours)
Spaces in the project are limited so if you are interested in participating, please send an email today with your name, contact details (including your mobile number) and the name of our school to firstname.lastname@example.org
We need your vote!!
With just three in attendance at last week's Annual General Meeting of P&C, we were unable to form a P&C executive for this year. We need a minimum of 5 parents to elect a President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Even if you are not ready to take on a leadership role or come to too many meetings, the group really needs people to attend this particular meeting so that our 2018 P&C can be formed and continue their great work for the school.
Come along to our next meeting on Tuesday 10 April, so that we can continue the wonderful work of the P&C at our school.
An adventure a day!
Lunch times are about to get a whole lot more exciting for our students!
Research tells us that students need to be outdoors and moving as much as possible. This improves their gross motor, fine motor and overall health and fitness.
At Lake Heights Public School, we are continuously striving to make our school the best it can be. Mrs Ellsmore and Mr Finkernagel recently visited other schools in the community to view their exciting natural playgrounds and as a result, we have decided to create a natural adventure playground on the hill at the end of our grass oval. The underused space makes the perfect place to create an exciting area for our children to play.
How can you help?
To make our playground as cost effective and exciting as possible we are asking for donations of things you may have lying around that we could use.
Here are a couple of items that we are on the lookout for:
*Old tyres of any kind (to be used as steps)
*Offcuts of trees that can be cut into disks (for pathways or stepping logs)
If you have any other items that you think we could use, please speak to Mrs Ellsmore or Mr Finkernagel. We have even seen some schools use old boats resting in sand as an exciting addition to their play space.

Every year, 1800 public school children attend Stewart House, next to Curl Curl beach, at no cost to their parents or carers.
During their 12 day stay, they are provided with dental, optical, hearing and medical screening, and participate in educational programs and excursions.
The costs associated with the children's stay are met from charitable donations. One way of supporting Stewart House is through their annual clothing appeal.
Today, children will be bringing home a clothing bag to fill with preloved clothes in good condition. The filled bags need to be returned to the school by Monday 9 April.
