Reconciliation, New shade umbrellas, A positive mindset: Term 2 | Week 5

Weekly News

It's National Reconciliation Week #NRW2018

The theme for #NRW2018 is Don't keep history a mystery. Our students will take part in class activities that reflect our Aboriginal history and help them to understand what reconciliation means for our country.

Friday is a day for everyone to show their support for reconciliation by wearing the colours of the Aboriginal flag. Come dressed in any combination of red, black and yellow.

We'll conclude the week with an afternoon of Aboriginal games from 1:35pm on Friday afternoon.

We all know that life has its ups and down and that some days are going to be better than others.

But how we choose to see the negative things that happen each day, has a huge impact on our happiness and our mindset. Check out this short clip on making your own weather here. This week is all about the power of positivity! We'll be focusing on looking on the bright side of things, expressing gratitude and appreciation, understanding that bad times don't last and tracking positivity. We know it is bound to be a great week with all of these positive vibes around! You might remember that last week we were focusing on courage. Here's what some of our students could tell us about courage as a result.
They're up!

Have you checked out our amazing new umbrellas? As the students all said, "They're huuuuuuuuge!"

These umbrellas will provide a beautiful, shaded space for students to sit to eat their lunch. We're sure you will agree that they look great too! Check out this week's 'Week in Review' video to catch the moment that the umbrellas went up.
Get them while they're hot!

Our pie and slice drive is very much underway! There was a little confusion regarding dates and bakeries, but we've clarified, so here are the details.

Pies will be provided by Queen St Bakery in Warilla, who are renowned for their pies and delicious sweet treats. They've also added a few extra slices into the mix. If you'd like to get your hands on some coconut slice or choc hedgehog slice, the price is $8 for a tray of four. If you have an original order form, these slices will not be on there. You can simply write them underneath, or grab an updated order form here or from The Hub.

All orders with payment will need to be returned to school by 9.30AM on Tuesday 12 June.

Late orders cannot be accepted. Delivery date Wednesday 27 June. Pick up at the Kitchen after school

If you missed out on an order form (or you've done such a wonderful job rounding up orders that you need another one) you can grab another copy here or from The Hub.

Regional Cross Country
This guy was so fast that we almost missed him! Please congratulate and add Jay Jayaswal to the list of speedy students who will represent our school at the Regional Cross Country Carnival this Friday. His name was omitted from publication in our week 3 news.
The week in review
There was laughter, lots of movement and some great, big umbrellas last week. Check it out!
