Missing the occasional day of school doesn't seem like a big deal, but missing just one day a fortnight can equate to a whole year of school by the end of your child's school career. It's no wonder that attendance can have such a huge impact on a child's success at school.
At Lake Heights we strive for five and try to make it to school every day. Attendance this year has been excellent for most students and these little legends have made it to school every single day this year. What an achievement!
Lucas Bain - Kindergarten

On Thursday, 26 July 2018 Lake Heights Public School travelled by bus to Albion Park to participate in their annual athletics carnival. It was a picture perfect day and the entire school including teachers, students and Mr Heddles performed a range of activities. Many parents and spectators also travelled to the venue to support and watch their children do their best!
In the morning students were separated into their house groups and Mr Fin spoke to them about the rules, the set-up and the expectations of behaviour. Afterwards, students were divided into their age divisions and set off to do their first event. The events included Shot put, High jump, Long jump and the 800m race. Throughout the course of the morning, there were many outstanding successes and achievements.
The infants enjoyed a number of activities and fun games that they had been learning about throughout the term. They were supervised by Mrs Sernig, Mrs Pauline and our special guest, Mrs Nicastri who instructed and helped them play the games. The games included sack races, bean bag toss, wooden spoon race, parachuting and many more. The school would like to thank all the parents who assisted with the infants, their help was much appreciated.
Ribbons that were not presented at last Friday's assembly will be presented at a second assembly this Wednesday afternoon at 2pm. Notes for district will be handed out today. If any students require an additional note they will be in the Parent Hub. Congratulations to all students who participated on the day and good luck to those who qualified to continue on at district.
Planned and written by the students of 4/5.
It was fantastic to see so many children showcasing their outstanding athletic ability, but what was even more impressive was the attitude displayed by students. Time and time again, teachers reported hearing comments from students about being persistent, about having a go, about practising to improve their skills and about supporting one another. It was terrific to hear even our youngest students using the skills and messages taught within the BounceBack program in a real life context.
Here are some of our favourite shots from the day. Check out Facebook for more and a special thanks to one of our kindergarten dads, Fritz Leland, who captured many of the moments pictured here.
