A new bubbler will be installed on the lower playground today, to ensure students keep hydrated throughout the day
The weather is heating up as we approach the end of the year, but we are doing all we can to ensure that students are staying cool and hydrated in the warmer weather.
Our 100% hat habit is well and truly underway, with school hats to be introduced in the coming weeks (more information on this later in the newsletter).
Our brand new bubbler is due to be installed in the lower playground this week, meaning that students are now able to have a drink at lunch and recess, without having to go all of the way up to the toilet block.
Parents are able to assist by ensuring that students have a labelled drink bottle that they can use during class time.
During periods of extremely hot weather when temperatures are consistently within the mid 30s, such as last Friday, we make adjustments to our daily routines to keep students cooler. On these days:
Class outdoor activities are modified, rescheduled or held indoors
The air conditioned Learning Hub is made available as an option for students during breaks.
Outside it reached 38º during recess last Friday, but inside it was cool enough to dance.
Compulsory school hats start 19 Nov
Parent choice slips (bucket hat or cap) are coming home today for parents to nominate their choice of school hat for their child. Please return your choice to school by Monday, 19 November.
Additional hats are available now from the office. Caps $5 and Bucket hats $10. Remember, children will all receive their free hat on 19 November.
Holi Powder Order Forms
Our Run4Fun Colour Explosion fun run is only a few weeks away. We'll be making bags of Holi Powder available to students for purchase. Order forms will be coming home today. Bags are priced at $2 or 3 for $5.
Don't forget to keep collecting those sponsorships and to grab a white t-shirt to wear on the day. We're told that the Holi Powder does wash out, however, to be on the safe side, we recommend that students wear something that they don't mind turning colourific. The colour is most visible on white clothing. White t-shirts are available for $2.50 from Big W.
Colour Explosion Sausage Sizzle 15 Nov
Sausage sizzle order forms were sent home last Monday. The Run4Fun Colour Explosion sausage sizzle will be held at lunch on 15 November, the day of the fun run.
All sausages must be preordered and are due 12 November. Additional order forms are available from The Hub.
It's a sell out! The swim school program is now full, so bookings can no longer be accepted. In the unlikely event that a child does pull out, Mrs Griffiths has started a waiting list. There are currently 8 students on this waiting list, so it is unlikely that students added to the waitlist will be able to secure a place.
Community garden meeting tomorrow
Join us between 9:30-10:30am on Tuesday 6 November and be a part of this growing movement towards sustainability and environmental education at LHPS. We'll be meeting in The Hub, but also spending some time in the garden to explore some of our ideas. We hope to see you there!
Around the school
A huge shoutout to our Year 5/6 students who have put their hands up to film and edit our weekly videos. This week's video was produced by Kellie Taylor and Julie Charlesworth. Fantastic job, girls.!
