The community gardening group is meeting in the Learning Hub this Tuesday 19 March at 9:30 am. Come along and join us for all our exciting news and plans for different garden zones at school.
The community gardening group has been very busy this term, not just in the garden but in the classroom as well. Students have been harvesting their own ingredients to create amazing recipes with the assistance of our community group members. 5-6 students made delicious basil and garlic pesto pasta with tomato whilst Kindergarten made scrumptious mini pizzas. All made from fresh ingredients from the garden. Potted succulents have been distributed into classrooms. Mrs Nicastri has a gardening group which has been revamping the garden in front of the hub, filling the garden bed with colourful new plants.
A gala day of sport
A busy Friday 22 March is ahead for years 1-6 with two separate sporting events. Kindergarten will get to have the entire school to themselves for most of the day.
Years 1 and 2 will be participating in a T-Ball Gala Day at Kemblawarra Public School. Students will be picked up and returned by bus and will leave school at 9.30am, have four games of t-ball then return to school at 12.30pm. All family members are welcome to watch the games and enjoy a sausage sizzle lunch. Students will need to bring their hats, fruit, recess, and water bottles and be dressed in their school uniform.
Years 3-6 students are taking part in the first of two Primary School Sporting Association (PSSA) gala days this term. Mixed cricket and mixed netball will both be played at Fred Finch Park, Berkeley. Years 3-6 students will need to bring recess, lunch and plenty of water. Parents are providing transport to and from Fred Finch Park, so be at school on time, ready to leave promptly at 9:15 am.
School photos are on next Thursday 28 March. Envelopes have been sent home and need to be returned to the class teacher by the morning of the photographs. There are no spare envelopes available. We will be starting class and whole school photos promptly, so don't be late. For sibling photos, envelopes are available at the front office.
Lake Heights Public School will be celebrating Harmony Day this Thursday 21 March. Whilst orange is the colour of the day, students are also encouraged to dress in cultural costumes or cheerful colours. Our P & C will hold a cake stall with orange or brightly coloured cakes, biscuits, slices and cultural deserts will be sold at Break 1. Any donations will be much appreciated and can be left at the kitchen in the morning. All items $1.
Last Thursday, Year 2 spent the day in the Learning Hub, whilst a wall in their room was transformed from orange to yellow. They all coped with the change of location and continued their learning. Mrs Whyte had to vacate her office as two new windows were installed on Friday. Concrete was poured for the new entrance to the library, the entrance to the new sports hub and in the top playground to provide a much-needed site for our new bubbler.

Stewart House is having their annual clothing appeal. After a big clean out that "sparks joy", why not donate items of clothing to this worthy cause. Please send items into school, in the bags provided and leave in the kitchen by Monday 8 April.
