New Principal appointed

Following the successful merit selection process, a new Principal has been appointed to Lake Heights Public School. Mr Kieren Corbyn will be the Principal and will take up his position here at the beginning of next year. Mr Corbyn is an Assistant Principal at Kiama Public School. He is currently the Relieving Principal at Hilltop Public School and will continue in this role until the end of the year. We all extend a warm welcome to Mr Corbyn and look forward to working with him next year. For the remainder of this year, Mrs Whyte will continue in the role of Relieving Principal and Mr Hurd will continue in the role of Relieving Assistant Principal.

Kinder 2020 playgroup

The first of our four Kindergarten 2020 playgroups commences at 1:35pm on Monday 28 October. The four sessions provide the opportunity for next year's Kindergarten students and parents to get to know each other, our teachers and our school. Everyone is encouraged to attend and siblings are more than welcome. Fruit is provided.

Grandparent's Day

Grandparents are invited to join us on Tuesday 29 October from 10:00am to experience a classroom with their grandchild. For catering purposes, RSVP is due to the office by Friday 25 October. On the day, at 10:40 there will be a delicious morning tea provided. You might even like to stay on for a BYO picnic lunch with the children at 11am. There will also be a raffle on the day for an amazing cake, kindly donated by Berkeley Cakes and Pies, as well as other prizes. The money raised will be donated to the Illawarra Convoy. Join in the fun and learning that children experience at LHPS. Hope you can join us.

Rock painting

Our Community Garden is holding after school garden activities starting this week on Wednesday 23 October from 3:00-4:00pm. These activities will be held fortnightly on Wednesdays this term. All students must be accompanied by an adult. Cost of the activities is a gold coin. Our first activity is rock painting.

Busy bees

A huge thank you to all the parents, children and community members that helped out in the school holidays. What an amazing result. The mulch was moved, front gardens tidied, school entrance gardens weeded, frog pond replenished, replanting in the adventure playground and the rear driveway garden rejuvenated. A special thank you to the Nicholls, Nichols, Connertys, Groves, Smith, Chase, Painon, Hazelgrove, and Struber families, Kiara, Mariah, as well as, Mrs Nicastri, Mrs Briggs, Mrs Whyte and Mrs Elsmore.

Pesky critters

With the warmer weather approaching, let's be vigilant in attending to the perennial problem of head lice. There are many chemical and natural remedies available. Head lice are only found on the human head or hair. Head lice do not live on furniture, hats, bedding, carpet or anywhere else in the environment. Treating anything other than the human head does not eradicate head lice.  For more information follow the link to the NSW Health website.
