Weekly News
Stay up to date with all of the news and upcoming events at Lake Heights Public School.

Raising money and awareness

Our P&C is raising money for the Illawarra Convoy. Soon licence plates will be available for purchase and will be displayed on the windows under the COLA. These will be sold by members of the SRC. There will also be a Crazy Sock day on Friday 15 November. Don't forget that there is a donation bucket situated in the office.

Grandparent's Day tomorrow

Grandparents are invited to join us this Tuesday 29 October from 10:00am to experience a classroom with their grandchild. At 10:40am there will be a morning tea provided. You might even like to stay on for a BYO picnic lunch with the children at 11am. There will also be a raffle for two prizes including an amazing cake, kindly donated by Berkeley Cakes and Pies.

What's the buzz?

Bunnings will be with us this Tuesday to help build a native bee hotel. They will be providing all of the materials and will be working closely with Year 4/5. The bee hotel will be situated in the driveway garden next to the vegetable and herb gardens. There is growing concern internationally about the decline in numbers of the bee population and we are here to help.

Hats, hats, hats

School hats are available from the front office for $5 for a baseball-style cap and $8 for a bucket hat. Please ensure that all students have a school hat. We are so proud of our school uniform and everyone looks amazing in their school hats, uniform and black shoes.

Rise & Shine

Join Mrs Briggs on Sunday 3 November at 9:30-12:00 for the Wollongong City Council Rise & Shine community clean-up event to clean up Berkeley harbour. The event begins at the front of the fish and chip shop where you can register and sign on. Bring gloves, hat, sunscreen, water, tongs for picking up rubbish and wear sneakers, not thongs. Children must be supervised by a parent or adult, not dropped off. Clean Up bags are provided. Hope to see you there.

Swimming  scheme

Notes for this year's swimming scheme have been distributed. The program is open to Years 1-4 and is conducted over ten days. Each daily lesson is 45 minutes. Lessons will be held at Berkeley pool. The Scheme will continue daily for two weeks from 2 December to 13 December 2019, departing school at 1.25pm and returning after school at approximately 2.45pm. The total cost for the 10-day scheme is $50. There are limited spaces remaining.

Planning ahead

If you know or expect you will be leaving Lake Heights Public before the start of the 2020 school year, please inform the office as soon as possible. We would be very grateful for your prompt advice so we can more accurately estimate our numbers for next year and factor this information into our class planning for 2020.
