‘An optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty’ – Winston Churchill COVID-19 Update The situation with Coronavirus continues to develop daily. I must acknowledge the tireless and selfless work of our school staff. Through the professionalism and dedication of our teachers and support workers, we have managed to retain many essential functions, enabling learning to continue in our classrooms. The message from our government to families is that school remains open and operational. I will keep you updated on any changes. Please make sure you follow our media sources. School Photos After long deliberation, I have made the decision to postpone our school photos. I do this with the hope that later in the year we can hold a whole school photo with less concern, and capture class memories when our student attendance is closer to 100%. The tentative date at this point is September 3. I apologise for any inconvenience, but hope to retain your community support. Detailed information will come home with children today. Easter Hats In consideration of Department requests to avoid assembling large groups, we will not be holding our Easter Hat parade in its traditional sense this year. We will still be creating hats with our junior students, but the parade itself will not proceed as normal. We will still hold the raffle and draw it later this term, and I will speak to the PandC about how they can support the revised format. Cancellations Continue With each cancellation it becomes more likely that others will ensue, but in the last few days we have had confirmation of the cancellation of both NAPLAN and Southern Stars for 2020. This is unfortunate as both offer much to the school year. More locally we have had cancellation of all school sporting events beyond the immediate classroom, including all PSSA trials and carnivals, and our local AFL development program. Harmony Day Friday was a lovely way to finish a challenging week in our community. Spending a day celebrating diversity and exploring the notion that ‘everyone belongs’ was a great display of the philosophies underpinning Public Education. Have a great week, Kieren Corbyn, Principal.
Online reading
We have the opportunity to subscribe to the PM eCollection for only $10 per child if signing up with the school as opposed to $90. What a bargain.  If you have a child in K-2 and you are able to access the internet at home, please contact your class teacher via Class Dojo, email or telephone by this Friday 27 March, if you are interested in subscribing to these online readers. The school will then organise your subscription. The PM eCollection is a brand new digital platform that re-imagines guided and independent reading.

Cash back
As Southern Stars is no longer on this year, you can collect and sign for your deposit from the office on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. We look forward to the show next year which we are sure will be the greatest show yet in its 20-year history. The new show dates for 2021 are Friday 20 August and Saturday 21 August.
Easter Hat Day
Let's get crafty! Our Easter Parade has been cancelled but we are still making hats in our classrooms on Wednesday 8 April. The P&C will be holding their raffle on this day and winners will be informed by telephone.
Buy your tickets
Do you have your tickets in the Easter raffle? Tickets are selling fast and there are already some awesome prizes. If you wish to donate to the prizes, then pop your donations into the basket, at the office. All money and tickets sold should be placed in the box provided, at the office.
School banking
Notice from CommBank School Banking The health, safety and wellbeing of our communities and our people is our first priority. Due to the rapidly developing situation with coronavirus, School Banking has been temporarily paused from 20 March 2020. Please don’t bring your deposit book with your weekly banking into school and we will notify you when banking will recommence.
Saturday the 28th of March is Earth Hour. People and businesses around Wollongong, and the world, will be switching off non-essential lighting between the hours of 8.30pm and 9.30pm. This year, everyone is invited to SwitchOff and raise their voices for nature for the most important Earth Hour yet.
