From the principal's desk
I recently read a quote stating that ‘The World has not faced disruption on this level since the World Wars, but at least this time we are all fighting on the same side.’ I thought it was a lovely sentiment to begin the week. The rate of change and uncertainty we are all navigating at present is unsettling, but it is nice to remember we are doing it together, for each other. COVID-19 Update The situation with Coronavirus is developing daily. I continue to receive world-class advice from our authorities around the current operation of schools. At this stage it seems most likely that we will continue in the current mode for the duration of Term 1, delivering a single unit of work at home, and at school for those families who require it. I will continue to keep our community updated as soon as I receive new information. The last few weeks have highlighted how rapidly, and quickly, the situation can change. Learning from Home Delivery Our staff have been innovating very fast, and I am proud to see the current state of learning delivery at our school. We have developed school-wide processes to marry up all learning occurring at home across years, while also ensuring the same supervised delivery here at school. While our processes are becoming more uniform, each class has small nuances, and I implore you to connect with your child’s educators via dojo. You can always call the school for assistance with connection, or conversations can be had over the phone if preferred. Our staff has a goal to connect with all students and families, either through online learning platforms, dojo, or phone. Learning from Home Check-in Conversations Many families shared their disappointment when we had to cancel ‘Parent/Teacher Conversations’ in their traditional format in Term 1 owing to COVID-19. In Week 11, we will be holding remote ‘Learning from Home Check-in Conversations’ with parents and carers. The online booking system has been reopened and we ask parents to book a time with their children’s teachers. We have been working hard at school to develop remote technologies, and we would like to extend these opportunities to our families. You will have the option to Video Conference with our staff via Zoom (downloadable at www.zoom.us), or just to have a phone call if preferred. If you opt for Zoom in the booking platform, please let us know in the comment box. You will be provided with a unique session code for your Zoom call. Easter Raffle We will be drawing our Easter raffle on Wednesday April 8. I ask that all monies and tickets are brought back to the school admin office by Friday April 3. We don’t have as many donations this year for obvious reasons, but regardless we will do a draw and provide a lucky community member with some deliciously festive chocolate additions. I will draw a ticket with our PandC executives, and the winner will be contacted once drawn. Have a great week, Kieren Corbyn, Principal.
ClassDojo
Are you connected? We are using ClassDojo to facilitate learning from home. We have set up two online virtual classrooms, as well as our own classes. If you are not connected, please call the school and we will be happy to help you join. ClassDojo has a free app that can be accessed on a tablet or phone. Be sure to add all of your children to your parent Class Dojo.

Can you solve it?
Support nurses and midwives
7 April 2020 is World Health Day. It is a day to celebrate the work of nurses and midwives and remind world leaders of the critical role they play in keeping the world healthy. Nurses and other health workers are at the forefront of COVID-19 response - providing high quality, respectful treatment and care, leading community dialogue to address fears and questions and, in some instances, collecting data for clinical studies. Quite simply, without nurses, there would be no response.
