‘Children are the World’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future’ -    John F Kennedy Full Steam Ahead It was great to have our children back last week, and we are looking forward to another great week of learning at Lake Heights Public School. While we have not had all of our children here for the last few months, we certainly have been busy. Not only have we been working on delivering online learning, but we have also been working on making our school an even better place to return to. Of particular note is the refreshing of our frog pond, complete with hotels. I thank Mrs Briggs for her great work, and the children who assisted her in the revamp. We have also had upgrades to our playground for which we thank Mr Samways, and we have new sporting equipment on the way for which we thank Mrs Nicastri. We are always in the pursuit of continual improvement at LHPS. Today I have sent a letter home to the students of Year 3 detailing some brief staffing changes which have occurred temporarily over recent works. As of Tuesday next week after the long weekend, Mrs Brisbane will return to the role of class teacher for Year 3. This is the last week for Mrs Kennedy who has been supporting our school throughout COVID operations. We thank her for her service and wish her the best as she moves into another position for the remainder of the term. Today I received information regarding OC Class Applications for 2021. The 2021 Year 5 opportunity class placement process was put on hold in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation. We now have a revised and simplified timeline for the OC placement process to ensure that students and families can have certainty about their placement as soon as possible. The changes include a new date for online applications (parents must apply between 9 June 2020 and 26 June 2020) and new test date (Wednesday 16 September 2020). For further detailed information, I encourage you to visit ( I thank all members of our community who joined us for our fortnightly Zoom assembly last week, but I apologise for the technical glitches we experienced. It was my fault for muting all. We have ironed it out and I hope we haven’t deterred anybody from joining us for our next virtual assembly next week.
Lastly, I want to acknowledge the excellent work of our staff and students in classrooms learning about National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week. I have seen many examples over recent days of how these important events are being acknowledged and celebrated through education. Keep up the great work. Have a great week, enjoy the easing social restrictions, and stay safe over the long weekend if traveling. Kind regards, Kieren Corbyn (Principal)

Travel NSW from home

We’re all missing our beautiful NSW landscapes, Sydney skyline and cuddly creatures at the moment, so why not take a virtual visit with one of the new online jigsaw puzzles? It’s a fun way to revisit some of your favourite spots or take a trip somewhere new while keeping your mind active in isolation.

All of the puzzles are automatically set to 32 pieces. If you’re a puzzle master (or you’d like something a little easier) you can change the number of pieces by clicking on the grid icon on the left of the centre panel when the puzzle opens. Visit
