‘He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything’ -    Arabian Proverb Health and happiness  Yesterday marked the end of Men’s Health Week in Australia. It cannot be stated enough how important our health is to happiness. Perhaps more importantly, as adults, carers and parents, we cannot pour from an empty glass. I challenge the dads and male carers reading our newsletter this week to consider the attached image and reflect on if and how they can any make positive change post-COVID. Healthy role models are essential in raising healthy young boys into men in our community.
When I first walked into the gates at Lake Heights PS late last year two things struck me: how beautiful the school looked with the themed umbrellas shading the retro caravan, and how smart the students looked in their strikingly bright and consistent school uniforms. As we enter the coldest months, I appeal to parents to help us uphold our success with uniforms and encourage and ensure your students are wearing our uniform with pride. If obtaining a full uniform is proving difficult, please come and chat.  Last week, Mrs Banfield accepted a full-time position for the year’s remainder at Wollongong West PS. I thank Mrs Banfield for her great work here and we wish her the best in her new role. Mrs Batist will be picking up some of Mrs Banfield’s roles in the interim. We are lucky to have such a great staff here at LHPS and it is sad from time to time when we wave farewell, even if only temporarily.  It is scary to consider, but we are already in planning for 2021. Of particular consideration is Kinder enrolments. Please see later in the newsletter for more information, but if you know of people who are enrolling next year, please let them know this process starts formally soon. From early next term, we will be actively seeking and accepting enrolments. All schools in NSW are bound to catchment areas and students must attend their allotted school with the exception of very specific cases. The school areas can be found here: with more detailed information on general enrolment available on our school website.  As we are continuing with our fortnightly virtual assemblies this term, please feel free to join us on Wednesday afternoon at 2pm at Meeting ID 489 780 7076 with password 137141. With each attempt, we iron out more inevitable technical hiccups. We look forward to seeing you, all are welcome. Have a great week Kind regards,  Kieren Corbyn (Principal)
