From the principal's desk
‘Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish’ -    John Quincy Adams Continuing on  Education Week last week was a lovely celebration of learning in what has been a challenging year for all. I hope you had the opportunity to view each of the videos we shared of our classes throughout the week. If you would like to revisit them individually, they will stay on our Facebook page or you can view the collation here: It was humbling to finish the week on Friday for National Primary Principal’s Day. The movie our kindergarten class made for me was very cute. I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to lead within our community. Speaking of community, if you are reading this week’s newsletter hot off the press, just a reminder that we have our PandC meeting this evening (10/8) at 5pm via Zoom at Meeting ID 489 780 7076. All are welcome, but you will need the password 137141. I appreciate the efforts of our community to keep our attendance up at school; it is of central importance. I understand the cold, rain and wind makes it very uncomfortable at times, but we strive to make school as comfortable as we can. COVID restrictions limit us assembling all of our children to play together indoors, so we aim to balance the children being looked after in classrooms with the ability to have a play and stretch in the COLA where we can. The message at the moment is to keep children at home at the first signs of being unwell to assist in management of the pandemic, but if a child is going to be away for any prolonged period, we are asked as a school by the department to produce doctors’ certificates so I ask families to assist us in this by seeing a medical professional if your child becomes sick enough to warrant being away for a longer period. We will continue to call to check in and see if we can help if your students are away. Virtual communication has become a new norm during COVID. This evening our PandC meet via technology, and then in coming weeks our students will compete in our annual public speaking competition via video conference because we still can’t assemble beyond 15 minutes, and following this in Week 8 (starting September 7) our parent/teacher conversations will again be rostered with the option for either a phone call or a Zoom. The public speaking competition can also be viewed by parents and carers. It will be held on Wednesday August 19 starting at 11.30. More information and a loose roster will be shared soon. Today your child will come home with a revised School Photo envelope. We had to postpone earlier in the year, but can now proceed with our new date of September 3. If you paid online and opted to hold the money over, you are already covered. For all other families, the money should be brought in on photo day. Instructions are on the envelope. Fingers crossed for sunshine from Tuesday, but until then stay dry and safe. Kind regards, Kieren Corbyn (Principal)

Curious Creatures, Wild Minds
This year we are having a dress-up day to celebrate Book Week. The theme of "Curious Creatures, Wild Minds" invokes thoughts of nature, jungles, sea creatures, and dinosaurs, of imaginary and mythological animals, and of adventurers, explorers and scientists. Can't wait to see all the creative ideas on Monday 14 Septemeber.
Talking Tactics Together ... the movie
Years 5/6 students were recently involved in 3 sessions of Talking Tactics. In our last session, we rehearsed a play and we would like to present the final film which is all about everything that we learnt in the past couple of weeks. Click on the picture above to watch the video. Hope you enjoy it. by Payton Lainez
The School Updates app
The NSW School Updates app allows parents and carers to receive operational status updates for NSW public schools. NSW families can now get notified when their school becomes non-operational, wherever they are. The app will complement the other means of communication available to parents and carers from schools and the Department of Education to ensure families receive timely, accurate information in a crisis. The app is free and available now for iOS and Android users.
