‘A goal without a plan is just a wish’ Antoine de Saint-Exupery School Planning from 2021 Welcome back to another week at school. For those of you who may have been involved in its inception or implementation over recent years, you would be aware that our school currently has a 2018-2020 school plan in place. As we are well into our last semester in this current plan, we are now starting to look towards a final evaluation, and the creation of the next plan to guide our school over the coming four years. It is an exciting time. In the coming weeks, I will be circulating surveys to the community to gain your thoughts, insights, and wishes so please collect your thoughts and be ready to share them. Your opinion matters. Under current COVID guidelines, I still cannot have community members on-site in person, so we are limited to using technology.  Last week I met for the first time since COVID with our PandC executive and some community members via Zoom for an update and QandA session. Thank you to all who attended. Two major items discussed were COVID operations and school planning. In brief, our COVID operations limit our school to absolute essentials, and no community visitors at present. We are also practising strict hygiene and continue enhanced cleaning. Sadly, it continues to mean that things like the Father’s Day stall cannot proceed as normal. This year has seen many cancellations, but we focus on the positives to come from it like unity, innovation, and perseverance, which continue. Secondly, I spoke to the Community Meeting about moving a Staff Development Day in Term 4. Normally, there is no pupil free Staff Development Day at the start of Term 4, and two at the very end. To help us maximise our time together as a staff in working on our school improvement plan, I would like to move one to the start of Term 4, and have one at the end of Term 4. It means moving a pupil free Staff Development Day from Thursday December 17 to Monday October 12. This would mean students' first day for Term 4 would be Tuesday October 13, and their last day would be Thursday, December 17. I am able to make this change, but must first inform our community and seek feedback. The PandC executive gave their endorsement in principle, which is why today I share this information and ask for wider community feedback. I ask that if any community members would like to discuss this proposal or have issues, please contact the school before Friday, August 21 so that I can consider any queries before making the changes required. I will communicate once complete so that you can update calendars. Lastly, it is great to see so many students riding their bikes to school, but please help us keep them safe by checking and insisting that they are wearing correctly fitting and fixed helmets. Our Year 6 student Logan proudly models our expectation in this week’s photo as a school leader. Kind regards, Kieren Corbyn (Principal)
