The Wonder of Reading As I sat and typed today’s address, the sun shone beautifully over our grounds. I looked out my window to see the image you find attached. Children of varying ages sharing in the wonder of books; it was a marvellous spectacle to enjoy as a Principal. Today our students (and staff) have dressed up as various characters and buddied up with their peer mentors to share and develop a love of reading. I thank Mrs Giles for her week on week dedication to our students and books as our school librarian, and also to our staff who join the fun today but devote every day to teaching your children arguably the most important skill one can learn. This morning we started the day with a short address and parade under the COLA. It was sad not to be able to involve our community in what is normally a lovely event, but once COVID is in the rear-view mirror, we look forward to returning to a more recognisable format. In the meantime, we make the most of what we can. Last week we had another 389 GotYa tickets handed out on our playground. A mammoth effort for our kids. This week the winner of the Gizmo Dragon for the week was Year 5/6. I am proud that our oldest students are standing tall as role models in the final quarter of their year at Primary School. Please join me in congratulating them for setting a standard of care, respect and safety on the playground. I just wanted to remind our community as the holidays draw nearer that our last day of school is Friday, September 25. We have a Staff Development Day which is pupil free on Monday, October 12. Students return Tuesday, October 13. On this day staff will be looking at our next school plan, including analysis of our recent community survey (so thank you for your time). Soon after our staff day, I will organise a community evening via Zoom to share results and plans and have a community questions forum. I leave you with an image of Gizmo joining our Year 5/6 class in their learning today. They are doing book tastings in their costumes and restaurant themed classroom for Book Week. Please enjoy some photos in this week’s newsletter of some of our students and their costumes. Have a great week. Kind regards, Kieren Corbyn (Principal)

Dress ups
What a great day for dressing up. So many amazing costumes of characters from some very popular books. Congratulations to all of the winners in the book week colouring competition, as well. Mrs Briggs and Mrs Giles had a very difficult time judging all of the entries. The standard was extremely high.
Merits
Lake walk
Last Thursday K-2 students went for a walk by the lake, had some lunch and a play, then returned back to school. The weather was perfect. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were very safe, respectful and responsible. "The best part was lunch" Jack 1/2 "My favourite part was lunch" Beau 1/2 "I liked going on the jetty" Mihir K/1
