‘Just play, have fun, enjoy the game’ - Michael Jordan. I have to admit as an avid sports fan, I find Michael’s quote above somewhat ironic as he is probably among the most competitive athletes ever to have lived, however, the sentiment is a nice one as we reflect on Friday’s mini athletics event. Pictured is our current Year 6 cohort participating in their last ever primary carnival. Between their events, they did an excellent job as carnival marshals continuing their great work as school leaders. Thank you to Mrs Nicastri for putting the event together at short notice under COVID operating restrictions. Infants are looking to host a similar ‘stripped back’ event in the coming weeks. Well done also to Kindergarten for winning Gizmo for the first time this week. It is great to see our students’ values shining from K-6. I have attached an attendance poster to this week’s newsletter. Improved attendance is something we should be proud of here at Lake Heights. The graph shows our recent improvement. We are the green line. The red and black are demonstrative of our goals. We have seen a big improvement in recent years owing to ongoing efforts. Rainy weeks slow our progress. In response to community feedback, we are making changes to our duty rosters when it rains to balance COVID rules on assembling, staff requirements for mandated breaks, spaces, and the ultimate need to keep our students warm and dry. Please continue helping us to maintain our great progress and improve the outcomes of schooling for our community.
I will be sharing more data like the above at our next PandC Community forum at 5pm on Monday November 2. The primary purpose of this meeting will be to share findings of our recent situational analysis (including the community survey) and then to share proposed future directions over the next four years. I am interested to hear how the community feels about our proposals, and how we can possibly improve our strategic plan to make sure our community voice is heard and represented. Please chat with your PandC, and join us at the meeting on Zoom at Meeting ID: 489 780 7076 and Password: 137141. Instructions for Zooming can be found at   I look forward to catching up. Have a great week. Kind regards, Kieren Corbyn (Principal)

Congratulations to the 8 years and up ribbon winners and all participants in last Friday's athletic events. It was a great day, with perfect weather for all of the events. Events included high jump, shot putt and 800m. 5-7-year-olds will soon be holding their own events later in the term.
