‘There is no greater support than consultation’
  • Ali ibn Abi Lalib.
This week I start our newsletter by inviting you to join us this evening on Zoom for a community consultation session. The primary purpose of our meeting is to share where we are up to with our new School Plan, due to be implemented over the period 21-24. I am excited about the next few years here at LHPS. The plan so far, while still in its infancy, has been informed by a very wide-reaching situational analysis. I want to be sure that the plan for our school both matches the community’s expectations for our children and also captures the needs and desires of our many constituents. At this meeting, we will also have a PandC update and an opportunity to answer any questions. I am expecting a new set of COVID operating guidelines to be released to our department throughout the day today, so I may also speak to these this evening in regards to community ramifications. Please join us at the meeting on Zoom at Meeting ID: 489 780 7076 and Password: 137141. Instructions for Zooming can be found at www.zoom.us. In general, I thank our PandC for their work behind the scenes this year in what has been a very difficult and odd time to retain a sense of community. Today we welcome our first cohort of Kindergarten 2021 students for a short playgroup transition. We have had to meet very strict COVID requirements, but are committed to providing the best experience we can for our new students and families to ensure the best start at school. This year, as a new initiative, we are offering two of our Kindergarten 2021 students the opportunity to win a brand new school uniform package, valued at $150 each. To be eligible for this prize, all enrolment forms must be completed and submitted to the office by the evening of our Parent Information night on Monday 23 November. Spread the word in the community, if you want to be in the running for a free uniform, and you are starting Kindergarten in 2021, get your enrolment forms completed. Forms can be found online here: https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/going-to-a-public-school/translated-documents/enrolment-application and general information for our school can be found here: https://lhps.nsw.edu.au/our-school/enrolment/ and of course our office can always help and provide hard copies. If you have a child starting in 2021 in Kindergarten, please mark the Parent Information night in your diary at 3pm on the same day, and join us on Zoom at Meeting ID: 489 780 7076 and Password: 137141. Instructions for Zooming can be found at www.zoom.us Our shop next door is still undergoing renovations and as such, remains closed. We have had a sneak peek at a new menu though and we are looking forward to reuniting our partnership when they are operational again. We are hopeful to be running again soon in Term 4. I look forward to catching up this evening. Have a great week. Kind regards, Kieren Corbyn (Principal)

Digital media and technologies survey

Are you a parent, carer or grandparent of children aged 5 to 17?

Do you wonder how digital media and technologies that they live with might affect their wellbeing, health and learning?

If your answer to these questions is ‘yes’, we would invite you to share your views here!

We at the Gonski Institute of Education at the University of NSW are working on a ground-breaking research project called Growing Up Digital Australia. This international research project seeks to understand the health, wellbeing and learning impacts of growing up in a digital world on our young people.    This project has Ethics approval, and poses no risk to you. Participation is voluntary and you will never be identified at any stage. By completing the survey, you have the chance to be entered into the draw for one of four $100 Coles Myer gift cards.   If you are a parent, carer or grandparent of any child aged 5-17, please complete the survey here. You may also share this invitation to take part in this research with others by sharing the link to the questionnaire. If you are a parent, we would be delighted if you would invite one of your child’s grandparents to take part in this survey.
