‘Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others’
  • John Maxwell
I would like to start today by congratulating the new 2021 student leaders. Our Vice Captains in 2021 will be Nicholas Malafu and Aleighia Williams, and our Captains will be Armani Fuka and Destin Tausala. These students were elected democratically on Friday following a nomination process and speeches. I congratulate all students who put themselves forward. Regardless of the outcome, they have all grown. I congratulate our new leaders and have every faith they will do a great job. The parents/carers of these students will be called today to invite them to attend tomorrow’s Presentation Assembly for badging. They will assist the outgoing captains to welcome the new. If you have been invited to tomorrow’s Presentation Ceremony, you will have received a paper invite and a follow-up phone call. Attendance at this year’s ceremony was by invite only, however, our whole community will be able to watch the ceremony on our School Facebook page via Facebook Live. Please invite grandparents and family members. To those attending, please follow the directions outlined in your correspondence. Please bring your pre-completed COVID declaration which will serve as your ticket. If you forget it, more will be available at the office. Your seats will be assigned, and we ask that you do not leave it mid-ceremony other than for bathrooms. We will have each child photographed, and will share the album. Entry to the event will be from 9 for a 9.30 start, via the covered walkway near the office. Please abide by the 1.5m markers when queuing. Chairs will be unusually spaced for obvious reasons; please do not move them. Following our Presentation Ceremony on Tuesday this week will be our Year 6 Farewell on Thursday evening. Please carefully read the COVID considerations sent home in anticipation of the event. In short, carers can only attend for 10 minutes at the start for a photo (at 6.30), and 10 minutes at the end for a short presentation (at 8.45). Both will be held in the COLA before students and staff only enter the Hub for a sit-down dinner professionally catered. Please observe strong social distancing with anyone outside of your home. Two weeks back I sent home a paper order form for our Aboriginal Art inspired polo shirts. The orders need to be completed by Friday this week (11/12). Please return them early to avoid disappointment. We cannot accept orders after Friday. Lastly, I have mentioned recently our intention to survey our community on our communication methods. The survey is ready, and we would really appreciate 5 minutes of your time to help us make sure we communicate in 2021 in the most efficient and accessible manner. Thank you in advance for your time. Take the survey here:   Don’t forget to check our calendar, it is packed over the last fortnight. Have a great week. Kind regards, Kieren Corbyn (Principal)
