Mr Bridgement was recently honoured for his service with an Education Week award for Excellence in Educational Support. To mark the occasion, we’re honouring Mr Bridgement by installing a new bench in his honour.

Term 3 | Week 4

The extension has transformed the learning space and is a hit amongst students and teachers alike! The room is set to become the new home base for Kindergarten and the two classes will trade places from the beginning of Term 4, to prepare for the orientation of new kindergarten students at the end of the year.

Lake Heights students represented our school with pride and achieved some exceptional results this year, with several students placing in their events. Phoenix Duncan of 4/5 had an excellent day and took out the Junior Boys Age Champion.

Term 3 | Week 1

Weekly News
Students from across the school turned out in red, black and yellow and were treated to lots of special activities.  We kicked off the day with a shared-screen reading of a local Indigenous story, Gang-Man-Gang, read by Aboriginal students, Asharnti Duncan and Ruby Lee. They did a fantastic job and students enjoyed hearing a local story.

This Friday marks Mr Finkernagel’s last day at our school. He came to Lake Heights in 2011 at a time when our sports and fitness programs were in need of some serious reinvigoration. He embraced the challenge, dedicated hours of hard work to creating and organising resources and has created a lasting legacy at Lake Heights. He has built a culture of sporting excellence at our school, led the way with the introduction of one-to-one laptops in senior classes and he has played an integral part in making Lake Heights what it is today.

Term 2 | Week 9

Over the past term, a group of students from Lake Heights have spent weeks working with local artist, Anita Larkin, on a Wollongong City Council public art project.  The mural has recently been unveiled in Winnima Way, Berkeley and the final product is gobsmacking! Stretching over 10m long and created by students across four local schools, the artwork represents many aspects of our local community.

Students were treated to a movie and special munchies provided by our P&C. Those students with above 99% attendance received Gold Class treatment and were treated to front row seats and comfy bean bags and cushions.

This week we welcomed a new member of staff to Lake Heights. Mr Daryl Hurd has been appointed to the vacant position that was created when Mrs Whyte was promoted to Assistant Principal earlier this year.

Weekly News
It was fantastic to see such a diverse range of hats on Wednesday for our National Simultaneous Storytime celebration. Students came to school dressed in hats of all shapes and sizes, from the Serbian Å¡ajkača to a police cap owned by a student’s grandfather, beanies, sombreros, handmade creations and everything in between.
